WHY YOUR BODY TYPE DOES NOT MATTER

Ectomorphs, mesomorphs and endomorphs. In Layman’s terms, skinny, average and fat. Obviously, the science and the differences between these somatotypes/body types are far more complicated than just that. Every human fits into one of these three categories. As such, most people tend to define their capabilities and possibilities using these criteria before even exploring their true potential. Scientifically speaking, your ability to build muscle and lose fat are certainly attributed to the body type that you were born with. However, does this mean that someone an endomorph should give up on looking normal or being able to fit into clothes? Or should an ectomorph be ridiculed for his/her whole life for not eating enough and looking like a stick? While these are rather extreme examples, the point is that these body types DO NOT MATTER. I’m sure you’re thinking that I simply have no idea what I’m talking about and have no qualifications or evidence on this topic. In fact, the science behind these somatotypes are very real and have been proven various times over the course of history. But, I am speaking specifically in the case of someone who wants to achieve their goals physically. This can be in terms of strength, aesthetics, athleticism… In essence, if one truly wanted to achieve their goals, they would certainly work around or on their weaknesses or flaws. Let’s use an ectomorph and endomorph who are trying to achieve a V-taper for this example. The endomorph claims that it is impossible for him/her because of their naturally large waist and that it is unfair for skinny people or ectomorphs as they are genetically blessed with a smaller waist. Yet the skinnier person or the ectomorph will be unhappy with their small frame which often correlates with smaller and narrower shoulders. If body types were the end all be all, these people should stop wasting their time and effort and give up on their goals. But, you must realize that no one is born the same in this world. Everyone is born unique whether it be genetics, race, culture and such. Some might even call this unfair. Instead of blaming your shortcomings, if you were to be sincerely motivated, you should spend your time improving these lapses in your physique or whatever it may be. The amount of work you have to put in may be more than other people but you should do whatever is necessary for your own goals. In this scenario, the skinner person or the ectomorph, they should work their shoulders and back more than others instead of complaining about it. While his/her shoulders and back may never be as big or wide as the endomorph, it will certainly help in creating a V shape illusion. The endomorph may have to diet more than the ectomorph, and perhaps train their abs more comparatively. Strictly speaking, these are just examples to prove a point. The key takeaway is that you are ultimately unable to change your genetics and instead of complaining, should endeavor to work on your flaws to meet your goals.
